He’ll be leading the charge in Port Moresby and brings more than 25 years of corporate experience specialising in media, telecommunications and major events. In this instalment of The Colony Blog, we get to know a little bit about Tasman and what makes him tick.
What will you be doing in the PNG office?
I will be heading up the team here as well as engaging and managing new business.
Why did you choose this career path?
I’ve always loved the communications industry. The dissemination of information is such a powerful platform to affect and change people’s lives and behaviours. And we get to do that on a daily basis. How good is that?
What part of your job gets you the most excited?
The opportunity to work with our partners to realise their goals and watch their businesses succeed. I also love the friendships and relationships formed – both at work and with our business partners.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about my country doing well and being able to contribute to that. Yes, the perception of PNG is not the best overseas, but this gives us an opportunity now as Papua New Guineans to change that. And we can. I want to be able to look back in 20 years (if not sooner) at a safer, more vibrant and economically viable PNG.
What’s your favourite part about living in PNG?
The people. We are the most diverse people in the world with over a thousand tribes and 860 languages. Every day is different!
What do you do outside of work?
Spend as much time as I can with my six kids, whether in the house or out and about. Absolutely love ‘em! My wife is included in all of this of course!
