Awareness and Gratitude: Our New Normal

As a company whose business is strategic advisory, marketing and advertising, it’s obviously a tenuous and unique time. While the world’s focus is fixed squarely on the current health crisis, where does the viability of a 30-person marketing firm fit into the greater picture? Not prominently, that’s for sure. Nor should it.

We are aware. As we continue our work from home, each of us is constantly reminded how truly lucky we are to wake up each morning with a sense of purpose. We brush our teeth in the mirror each day, eat breakfast, make a coffee and kiss our kids knowing that throughout the day we’ll be making meaningful contributions to a larger team. We’ll be working to help our clients to weather the storm, and thus, helping create the same comfort and sense of purpose for them and their employees. At the end of the day, we’re all people – all sons and daughters, siblings, parents and children.

And then of course, there’s the paycheck every fortnight. While we’re all out of our comfort zones, out of our routines and out of flour, we’re grateful to know, for the time being at least, we’re not out of work.

We are lucky. The magnitude of our good fortune is brought into sharp relief simply by looking around at our contemporaries. Brisbane and Cairns advertising and marketing firms are being forced to take unprecedented steps to stay afloat, with many companies cutting staffs by more than 50%, reducing workweeks to 3 days, or worse yet, completely shutting their doors – likely forever. Luckily, this hasn’t been our experience.

We are humble. In the middle of this tumultuous environment, we’ve been unbelievably fortunate to actually add staff. Across March and April, we welcomed four new team members, although many of us have yet to meet face to face due to working from home and social distancing measures. For businesses like ours, this type of growth in the time of covid-19 is a bit of an anomaly and is the product of successful ongoing relationships with vital companies like The Brian Bell Group, Digicel, Fincorp and Nambawan Super. We are also proud to announce that we’ve recently brought on two new major clients in Kinabank and Colgate Palmolive.

These new partnerships, combined with the continued growth in the scope of work for current clients, and an expanded offering through new hires and skillsets will enable us to continue our upward trajectory for the foreseeable future. As we look to what lies ahead we are humbled and cautiously optimistic that we will continue to be blessed.

For this and so much else, we are truly grateful.
